 SW19 isn’t the only host of exciting court action this month, Wimbledon Park Sports Centre in Portsmouth has also been serving up a treat and has been crowned the No Strings Badminton ‘Session of the Month’ for June 2012 as a result!

Part of the Parkwood Leisure empire now recognised as one of the leading leisure management companies in the UK, Wimbledon Park Sports Centre has been a relatively recent addition of the growing No Strings Badminton national initiative. One of the two weekly sessions currently on offer at the facility has been specifically served up as a 50+ session, and this has proved very popular with the locals.

The 50+ session runs on Fridays from 10am- 12pm and has been so far attracting on average about 17 people per week since starting in March this year! The friendly session coordinator (Steve Monk) is on hand every week to ensure anyone who turns up gets on court as much as they desire for some quality games of badminton in a fun and sociable environment.

The introduction of these new No Strings Badminton sessions has meant that new members have been attracted to the facility and it offers a fresh, different way for users of Wimbledon Park Sports Centre to have some fun whilst keeping fit and healthy.

Sid Sampson [71] attended the very first session back in March and has been a regular ever since.

“Friday 50+ ‘No Strings’ sessions consists of a variety of players from 50 to 80 years of age.

It is fun, friendly and sometimes competitive, but everyone always comes and leaves happy.”

No Strings Badminton sessions welcome anyone to come and have a go so what’s your excuse not to come and hold court! The other session currently running at Wimbledon Park Sport Centre is on Sundays at 10am – 11am.
